Mission’s Opening Nite Theatre Society is presenting the play Dearly Departed.

When Bud Turpin drops dead at the breakfast table, the whole family comes together to mourn and say goodbye.

However, when his family gets together, nothing goes easily.

With the likes of his fiery fundamentalist sister and her lazy philosophical son, his contented widow, the two sons who alternately fight and ally, and a whole host of quirky side characters, this funeral is anything but boring.

Directed by Dudley Cox, this comedy/drama is a great kick-off for the theatre group’s new season.

Dearly Departed runs Oct. 18-20, 24-27 and Nov. 1-3.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $15, and available online at openingnitetheatresociety.tripod.com or by phone at 604-826-ONTS (6687) or at the door. Opening Nite Theatre is at 33223-33227 Railway Ave in Mission, across from the WestCoast Express.
