British DJ/producer Featurecast is synonymous with the hip, club groove and funk of electronic music, as he will prove when he plays Vernon’s Status Night Club Friday, Dec. 9.
On a mission the past few years to funk his way across the globe with his own brand of DJing, Featurecast brings mid-tempo breaks, hip-hop, funk, drum ‘n bass and down-right dirty bass together in his own remarkable way.
“After seeing him at last year’s Shambhala Music Festival, the crew behind 13th Floor Entertainment knew they needed to bring him back home to showcase his skills right here in Vernon,” said event producer Josh Brazier, with 13th Floor.
2014 proved to be a very fruitful year for Featurecast, who lit up the main stage of Australia’s biggest Breakbeat festival, Breakfest, adding to an already impressive list of festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Beat Herder, V Festival, Fusion Festival, and B.C.’s Shambhala.
Plenty of hard work and passion has shaped Featurecast. He has earned kudos in the studio with early releases on Jalapeno Records, Insane Bangers, Bomb Strikes, Good Groove and Ghetto Funk, and with his 2012 album Run For Cover.
His music has also been featured on iPod commercials, film and video games, with his track Got That Fire used on FIFA 13.
With overwhelming support from the world’s most respected funky breaks producers and DJs, Featurecast has received plaudits from the likes of Krafty Kuts, Fatboy Slim, DJ Yoda, Z-Trip and A. Skillz, and dropped sets alongside De La Soul, Mark Ronson, DJ Fresh, Wilkinson and Stanton Warriors.
With a new album in the works, Featurecast will most certainly continue to find his way onto your playlists in 2016 and beyond.
Joining Featurecast at Status is Kelowna’s Bag-O-Beetz and Vernon’s The Electrofunkers.
Tickets are $15 in advance at 13thfloorent.com and at the Downtown Internet Lounge, or $20 at the door, which opens at 9 p.m. Status is located at 2900 29th St., Vernon. 19-plus event.
