What better way to celebrate Family Day than with comedy, community and a dash of nepotism?
Funny Brothers and Friends is a two-hour improv show featuring brothers-in-law Cliff Prang and Steven Krajnyak.
“It’ll be fun and physical and funny, and everyone should be able to enjoy it,” says Prang about the all-ages show.
Prang and Krajnyak have been performing as the Funny Brothers for seven years, and their comedic acts have covered everything from dressing up as Santa’s elves at Seven Oaks Mall, to Volunteer Day improv performances, to entertaining pastors at retreats.
On Feb. 18, they’ll be onstage in Chilliwack for Funny Brothers and Friends, a fundraiser for the G.W. Graham theatre department.
The first hour of the show will feature just Prang and Krajnyak. In the second half, the Funny Brothers will be joined by G.W. Graham’s student improv team, plus teachers Mike Florizone, Damon Fultz and David Geurtsen. There will be live jazz music to which they’ll be improv singing and doing slam-beat poetry.
Prang recently visited the GWG improv team and was quite impressed with their talent. He’s sure they’ll do well on Feb. 18, he says.
Prang and Krajnyak have more than two decades of improv experience including the Canadian Improv Games, UFV Theatre, Vancouver Theatre Sports League, and The Panic Squad Improv Comedy.
They’ve entertained everyone from children through seniors and “it has always gone well,” says Prang. He promises they’ll deliver a night of hilarity on Family Day.
Funny Brothers and Friends is Monday, Feb. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. at G.W. Graham theatre (45955 Thomas Rd.).
Tickets are $15/adult and $10/student and are available at eventbrite.ca. Tickets, if available, will also be sold at the door on the night of.
