The Gabriola Players are celebrating the centenary of women gaining the right to vote in Canada with a production of What Glorious Times They Had, by Diane Grant.
To stage the production the players are hosting an audition Tuesday (Jan. 5), 7-9 p.m. at Rollo Centre.
All of the seven main cast roles, except Adelaide Roblin and P.T. Fletcher, are singing parts. The characters are Sir Rodmond Roblin, the Premier of Manitoba in his sixties; Fletcher, parliamentary secretary; Nellie McClung, a social reformer and suffragist; Frances Beynon, a journalist and suffragist; Lillian Beynon Thomas, a journalist and suffragist; Cora Hind, an agricultural expert and forceful women in her early fifties; and Adelaide Roblin, the wife of Sir Rodmond Roblin.
There are 12 supporting roles, one which involves singing. Each actor will play multiple roles.
