Those fixing for an early morning Hollywood blockbuster and some hot, buttered popcorn will want to head down to Vernon’s Galaxy Cinemas on Sunday morning.
The local cineplex in the Shops in Polson Park is hosting another Community Day with free movies, this time in conjunction with Vernon Winter Carnival.
Visitors can pick from five different films, with doors to the theatre opening at 9 a.m.
And, yes, admission will be free, with proceeds going to The Starlight Children’s Foundation, which strives to improve the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families.
“We are very excited to offer this fun, family event as part of the Vernon Winter Carnival and raise some money for a great cause,” said Galaxy Cinemas general manager, Jesse Logan.
Film screenings are as follows:
• 9:20 a.m. – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
• 9:30 a.m. – The King’s Speech
• 9:40 a.m. – The Smurfs in 3D
• 9:50 a.m. – Hop
• 10 a.m. – Kung Fu Panda 2 in 3D.
Seating will be on a first come, first serve basis.
Regular popcorn and drinks will be on sale for $2 each with 100 per cent of the proceeds being donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
