Gallery 7 Theatre holds open auditions on Wednesday, Sept. 6 for its November production of Peter and the Starcatcher.
Auditions begin at 6:30 p.m at the theatre’s administration and rehearsal hall (#100 – 34595 Third Ave. in Abbotsford), and are open to all community performers ages 14 to 75.
The production – a prequel to Peter Pan – tells the tale of a young orphan and his mates, who are shipped from England to a far-off island.
On the voyage, they meet the precocious Molly, a Starcatcher-in-Training, who tells them that a certain trunk on board carries a magical cargo that must not fall into the wrong hands.
When their ship is attacked by the fearsome pirate, Black Stache, a thrilling adventure ensues where unwilling comrades unite and unlikely heroes emerge.
This Tony Award-winning play explores the depths of greed and despair as well as the bonds of friendship, duty and love.
“Peter and the Starcatcher promises to be a wildly entertaining adventure for audiences,” says Ken Hildebrandt, executive and artistic director.
“The show also provides performers of all backgrounds and experience levels to really sink their teeth into some really fun roles.”
Those interested in auditioning should be prepared to sing a cappella 16 bars of music from their favourite musical.
Also invited to attend the audition are those interested in working behind the scenes as assistant stage managers, running crew, technicians or as other production team volunteers.
Peter and the Starcatcher will be directed by John Trottier and will run Nov. 10 and 11 and 15 to 18 at 7:30 p.m., with discount matinees on Nov. 11 and 18 at 2 p.m. at the Abbotsford Arts Centre, 2329 Crescent Way.
Rehearsals will commence the week of Sept. 11.
