Gallery 7 Theatre in Abbotsford presents a virtual comedy improv night on Friday, May 7.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and features the group Panic Squad creating scenes using suggestions provided from the audience via their keyboard or digital device.
“Just because we can’t gather in person right now doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun,” said Ken Hildebrandt, Gallery 7 Theatre’s executive/artistic director.
“While the format of the show is quite different from what we’re used to, this unique and innovative performance still promises to showcase the same great skill, the same great comedy genius the Panic Squad is famous for.”
The Squad will live-stream their performance, in accordance with local health orders and guidelines, from a stage in Washington that is equipped with a high resolution, multi-point camera system.

When guests “arrive” at the virtual performance, they’ll have an opportunity to respond to a number of questions posed by the Panic Squad.
Answers will then be compiled and suggested to the team as ideas for each new improv game or sketch. The performers won’t have access to the audience responses ahead of time, thus ensuring a performance unique to the evening.
“We anticipate the show to be a lot of fun and interactive for audiences,” Hildebrandt says.
For 20 years, the Panic Squad has performed across the U.S. and Canada for hundreds of churches, businesses, national conferences, and top Fortune 500 corporations. They have appeared on CBC, CTV, 100 Huntley Street, CBS and more.
The Panic Squad specializes in performing a high-quality comedy show that is all-inclusive and non-offensive. Performing at this year’s event will be one of the team’s founders, Andrew Bright, and his partner in improv comedy crime, Elijah Tadema.
Audiences are encouraged to log in approximately 15 minutes early to give their responses to questions that just might be used during the performance.
Tickets are $20 per person. A link to the event will be sent to ticket holders approximately one hour before showtime. Visit gallery7theatre.com to order or for more information.
