The Salmon Arm Art Gallery presents the first show of the Canada’s 150th year, the Red & White Do-It exhibition.
This is a participatory art experience, where people are invited to continue to create red and white artwork throughout January and February and contribute it to the show, says curator Tracey Kutschker.
The exhibition opens with a reception at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, featuring live music and refreshments and continues until Saturday, Feb. 25.
If you’d like to try your hand at creating in a new media, sign up for one or all of the “Do-It Demos,” taking place at 7 p.m.Wednesdays throughout February. All supplies are included in these one-hour workshops that cost $15 each, or $40 for all four.
On Feb. 1, learn about fibre art with Myrna Button. Collage with Karen Raven is the subject of the Feb. 8 workshop.
Frieda Martin leads a session on pen and ink on Feb. 15 and the series concludes with Tracey Kutschker working in mixed media on Feb. 2.
“Celebrate the sesquicentennial by capturing the colours of the Canadian flag in your contemporary artwork,” suggests Kutschker.
