The new art exhibit Generations, by mother and daughter Marjatta and Liisa Itkonen, is currently on display at the Rock Family Gallery at the Mission Arts Centre.
Generations divides the gallery into two separate, yet connected halves. On the one side is daughter Liisa’s paintings, linocut prints, and pen and ink work, which is intricate and thought-provoking.
On the other side of the gallery is Marjatta’s work of figurative paper sculptures, which tells the story of her long-distance relationship with her mother, who remained in Finland when Marjatta emigrated to Canada in 1972.
The show runs from now until Feb. 9.
The gallery is located at 33529 First Ave. in Mission. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
