Get ready for some sweet sounds, and perhaps a sweet treat, willingly thrown in your face, when one of the hottest DJs on the planet comes to little ol’ Vernon.
Known for his aim at churning out club hits, and cakes thrown out at his audiences, Steve Aoki will be at Kal Tire Place (formerly Wesbild) Thursday as part of his Aokify North American tour, which hits seven Canadian cities (Vernon being the only stop in the B.C. Interior.)
Joining him will be bass/dubstep artist Borgore, hip-hop heavyweight Waka Flocka Flame, and Canadian production/DJ duo Botnek.
And thanks to Kelowna’s Center of Gravity festival, general admission tickets for the show have just gone down to $39.
“Steve Aoki was one of our first major headliners for Center of Gravity and what a way to celebrate then with all our friends and fans at his Aokify Okanagan tour stop,” said Center of Gravity’s Scott Emslie in a press release. “Thank you all for an amazing year and we can’t wait to spend an amazing night with all of you this Thursday at Kal Tire Place in Vernon”
Those who purchased tickets before Nov. 17 have now been upgraded to VIP status, which includes a separate VIP entrance, access to the VIP Spirits Bar (19-plus only) and a Dim Mak merch pack, while VIP tickets holders will receive a meet and greet with Aoki with photo opp.
The 2013 Grammy nominee, and fifth highest earning DJ in the world (according to Forbes Magazine), Aoki is now dominating the music world with his recent releases, including new single Bring You To Life (Transcend) with house producer Rune RK and featuring vocalist RAS.
He also collaborated with Linkin Park on current release, A Light That Never Comes, and his other single Boneless, a collaboration with Chris Lake and Tujamo from Aoki’s upcoming album Neon Future due out in 2014, hit #1 on Beatport and has received over 3.7 million views on YouTube
This tour is Aoki’s first return to Canada since making his epic 80-foot-long cake toss at the VELD festival in Toronto this past August that went viral. (You can see the very happy recipient of the cake in face on You Tube.)
