To conclude its 59th season, the Gloria Dei Chorale will perform selections from Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver! and other musicals at a concert in Abbotsford on Friday, May 9.
The concert will feature soul/gospel singer Darlene Ketchum of Delta.
Ketchum performs at various events, solo or accompanied by her husband, Kelvin, on piano.
She is the associate director for the Marcus Mosely Chorale along with Bill Sample and Marcus Mosely, and a soloist for the chorale.
Ketchum released her first solo soul/gospel/R&B EP, Soul Connections, in November 2013.
The Gloria Dei Chorale was founded in 1954. Comprising members from all over the Lower Mainland, the choir sings a wide variety of serious and light-hearted works.
Concerts frequently feature soloists and musicians from around the Lower Mainland.
The 2013-2014 season was the choir’s first under new director Betty-Ann Vroom, as well as accomplished pianist Ingrid Verseveldt.
The performance starts at 8 p.m. at Bakerview Church, 2285 Clearbrook Rd. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7.50 for students and free for kids 11 and under.
They are available in Abbotsford at the House of James, Karl’s Dutch Meat Market, and King’s Music.
The Gloria Dei Chorale also performs on Saturday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. at New Westminster Christian Reformed Church, 8255 13th Ave. in Burnaby.
