A night of inspirational gospel music is set to hit all the right notes at the Parksville Fellowship Baptist Church in Parksville on Saturday, May 5.
Chances are, many of those who take in the concert will find themselves singing along.
Sing! is presenting Tenore, an award-winning group that burst onto the Canadian gospel music scene last year.
The 7 p.m. concert is not just about tenor talent.
The powerful musical event, showcasing talent from a pool of well-known and up and coming artists is coupled with audience participation singing tunes people know and love.
Tenore promises to thrill you with their heartfelt renditions of beloved gospel songs and the great classical hymns of the Christian faith.
Founded by Jill Ann Siemens, who is also founder of multi-platinum recording artists, The Canadian Tenors, Tenore has received tremendous acclaim in its short time together.
Nominated for awards in seven categories at the 2011GMA Covenant Awards, Tenore walked away with three plaques including Traditional/Classical Album of the Year and Traditional/Classical Song of the Year.
Tenore also took home the Blessings Fan Choice Award, voted by fans across the country, despite being merely a write-in option on the ballot.
Tenore consists of three vibrant and superior tenor voices; the earthy vocals of Shane Wiebe, the warm, velvety tones of Jason Catron, and the powerful notes of Mark David Williams.
Together the three tenors create an unforgettable musical experience that moves and unites audiences to sing their hearts out together.
Having performed in concert for over 30,000 people with national television appearances, the singers are touring in support of their self-titled debut album Tenore.
Recorded in Nashville and in Prague, the album includes unforgettable renditions of songs such as How Great Thou Art as well as traditional and classic favourites such as You’ll Never Walk Alone and The Lord’s Prayer.
The album also includes Sempre Vicino; A Child’s Prayer for Peace, and the multiple award-winning Tipperary Peace Convention’s, International Song of Peace written by Siemens.
Wiebe, a former top-five contestant on Canadian Idol believes the song choices are what endear audiences to Tenore.
“What’s interesting about our music is that the melody is always very familiar, allowing audiences to sing along,” he said. “Tenore takes these familiar songs and infuses an adrenaline rush.”
The popular music act will be visiting seven B.C. cities, including a stop at the Parksville Fellowship Baptist Church on May 5 at 7 p.m.
