Hornby Island artist Rachelle Chinnery will present a two-day workshop at the Campbell River Art Gallery July 7-8.
The workshop, in correlation with her new exhibition starting July 6 at the gallery, will be held in the Campbell River Community Centre’s pottery studio.
Participants will learn both pottery wheel and hand-building techniques. The two-day workshop includes demonstrations, a slide show of inspiring imagery and a hands-on exploration of the medium.
The fee is $255 for Campbell River Art Gallery members or $266 for non-members. Call (250) 287-2261 for more information or to register.
Chinnery’s new exhibition, “Portrait of an Ocean” features ceramic sculptures and vessels. Her pieces, suggestive of the sea life that surrounds her on her island home, are richly textured and glazed in thick, earthy tones.
She has also created a beach-inspired installation piece for this exhibition, which was booked by Gallery staff over two years ago. “Portrait of an Ocean” continues at the art gallery through August 17.
The gallery, in Tyee Plaza, is open Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission by donation.
