Haney hosts car show

R.J. Haney Heritage Village and Museum hosts 12th Annual Classic Antique Car Show.

It’s a case of car show meeting rock-a-billy band when R.J. Haney Heritage Village hosts their 12th Annual Classic Antique Car Show Sunday, Aug. 14.

Entertainment is on tap from popular Vernon-based Grim Hymn and the Horrors. This group offers something old-timers and young people alike can two-step, swing and jive to.

Back again by popular demand, young musician Phoenix Goldsmith with his red Fender bass and his mentor Peter Clark, will perform a repertoire from the 1960s surf-and-drag era.

More than 100 cars are expected to attend, says Susan Mackie, R.J. Haney Heritage Village visitor services co-ordinator.

Visitors can vote for the People’s Choice Awards in three classes: Classic Car between 20 to 45 years old, Antique Car over 45 years of age and Vintage Cars built between 1919 and1930.

This family-friendly event has the support of many local businesses who have donated silent auction items and prizes.

The morning begins at 8:30 with a pancake breakfast prepared by Marjorie’s Tea Room.

If you are interested in displaying your vehicle, register at 8 a.m. on the day of the event.

Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 5 to 12. There is no charge for children under 4.
