Learn the value of your art, antiques, and collectibles from the professionals. Join Anthony Westbridge, of Westbridge Fine Arts in Vancouver, and local art and antiques appraiser, Peter Blundell, for Treasures from the Attic on Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Anthony Westbridge will give opinions on the value of works of art, and will consider taking pieces back to Vancouver for inclusion in his live and online auctions. Westbridge will give verbal appraisals on Canadian, American and international paintings, prints and sculpture, but does not handle art from Asia. An entire fifteen-minute session may be required to assess one work of art.
Referred to as one of Canada’s leading art experts, Anthony Westbridge is the is the author of Made in Canada! An Investor’s Guide to the Canadian Art Market, How to Make Money Selling Art at Auction, and the publisher of The Collector’s Dictionary. Copies of the Westbridge books will be available for sale at the event.
Peter Blundell will be giving opinions on value of antiques, collectibles, and prints or reproductions, with some exceptions. He cannot appraise jewellery, coins, stamps, guns, and wristwatches. However, pocket watches and swords may be brought in. Individuals who wish to have large furniture pieces assessed are asked to bring in a portion of the piece, e.g., a drawer, along with a photograph, and the item’s measurements. Please note that items thought to be over four hundred years old cannot be assessed at this event.
Fifteen-minute-long evaluation sessions will be held throughout the two days, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each session allows for viewing of up to three items with Peter Blundell, or up to three original works of art with Anthony Westbridge, depending on time. The cost for a session is $40.00 for members of the Kelowna Art Gallery, and $50.00 for non-members. Partial proceeds from this event will support the Kelowna Art Gallery’s educational programs and exhibitions.
