Songs of the People
The Cantando Chamber Singers present Canada 150: Songs of the People on Friday, April 28. The performance showcases songs written and arranged by Canadian composers, followed by refreshments.
It will feature songs by Stan Rogers, Gordon Lightfoot, Loreena McKennitt and others.
The 11-member group sing mainly a capella or with accompaniment, and are directed by Ann Barber.

Flute and piano on Sunday
This sunday, April 30, TOSH has flutist Suzanne Snizek performing along with Yoomi Kim on piano.
Snizek, currently an assistant professor in music at the University of Victoria, has done scholarly work into music in British internment camps during the Second World War. In Feb. of 2013, she produced and performed in a concert featuring music written in British internment camps.
A pianist, conductor and composer, Kim teaches at the Victoria Conservatory of Music.
Their performance is from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 30. Admision is $18.

Music in Nanoose
Canadian roots musicians Dustin Bentall and Kendel Carson are poised to bring rock, folk and country to their performance on May 3 at the Smoke ‘n Water Restaurant in Nanoose Bay.
The guitarist and violinist go on at 7:30 p.m., with the doors opening at 5:30 p.m. The performance is one-night only, with limited seating. Tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door. They can be purchased at the Cranky Dog in Parksville or at the Smoke ‘n Water Reastaurant.
