There is much more to the Creston Valley Blossom Festival than stage show headliner Wendell Ferguson. Here are some of the highlights:

FRIDAY, MAY 18

•For the teens, battle of the bands in the John Bucyk Arena, presented by the good folks at House of Rock Studios.

SATURDAY, MAY 19

•The Creston Lions Club street fair downtown and the Lions pancake breakfast beginning at 7 a.m., followed by the mammoth Blossom Festival parade at 11 a.m.

•In Millennium Park at 12:30 p.m., we have the showcase of talent, including line dancers, fiddlers, the rock band 60 Hertz, and Peanut Butter and Jam, to name a few.

•Over at the Creston Valley Farmer’s Market behind the Creston Valley Chamber of Commerce, teenagers can test the latest in electronic inflatable games and challenges with a different twist. Children’s events are outside the College of the Rockies on 16th Ave. S. Train rides for the kids, bubble machines and a bouncy tent will round out the event hosted by Success By Six.

SUNDAY MAY 20

•The day will begin with the Knights of Columbus western breakfast at Holy Cross Catholic Church hall, followed by the five-block-long custom car show right downtown, while the Lions Club once again will be holding their chili cook-off featuring some of the area’s best cooks.

MONDAY MAY 21

•The scene shifts to the Creston Valley Airport where the doors will be open for a pancake breakfast followed by an open house.

•At 11 a.m. downtown, the Lions Club will be staging the children’s parade, which will head down two blocks on Canyon Street. Following the parade will be the Lions children’s party in Centennial Park, where hotdogs and burgers will be available, along with games being organized by the army cadets. The Blossom Festival 50/50 button draw will also take place at that time. Fortis will have a tent set up with special games and clotheslines will be given away to lucky homemakers.
