Highstreet presents annual tree-lighting celebration

Event on Saturday, Nov. 17 kicks off festive activities at shopping centre

The biggest and brightest holiday experience in the Fraser Valley returns Saturday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. to Highstreet Shopping Centre with their fifth annual Highstreet Holiday Show and Tree Lighting.

Highlights include the lighting of a dazzling 65-foot Christmas tree – one of the tallest in Canada – along with Santa’s arrival to Highstreet.

Other crowd favourites include Rudolph, Frosty, Spandy Andy the dancing elf, a 40-piece marching band, and festive dancers.

Highstreet’s 30-minute live show includes live music by local talent Greg Neufeld and a multi-media light display utilizing 6,000 tri-color LED bulbs set to seasonal musical favourites.

“Once again, we’re excited to bring this holiday tradition to the Fraser Valley and delight our guests with a truly spectacular outdoor show,” says Tanya Curtis, general manager of Highstreet.

Festivities begin Nov. 17 with live shows running every Saturday at 5 p.m. until Dec. 15.

Additional Highstreet holiday festivities include:

n photos with Santa in an oversized gift box from Nov. 18 to Dec. 24;

n Santa’s Mailbox from Nov. 19 to Dec. 10, where kids can drop off their letters to Santa, with Highstreet donating a can of food to the Abbotsford Food Bank for every letter received; and

n gift-wrapping and personal shopping from Nov. 18 to Dec. 24, with complimentary wrapping offered with donations to the food bank.

Holiday shopping hours begin Sunday, Nov. 18, with stores open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
