Family and friends came out to support their favourite homegrown artists on Nov. 13 as the Mission Arts Council and Prospera Credit Union handed out awards at a reception for the Prosperity is… Art Contest.
Awards were handed out in four categories. A total of $1,500 in prize money was given away.

Best in Show: Gladys Wolfe – Driftwood Fantasy
Honourable Mention: Maurice Motut – Friendship; Looking Forward, Looking Back, and Norbert Gruenwald – Raven Steals the Light
Young Adult
Best in Show: Lukas Penner – Reflections
Honourable Mention: Farrell Siemens – Life
Youth
Best in Show: Emilie Kvist – The Walk to Education
Honourable Mention: Mary-Rose Lee Wah – The Incredibly Lucky Cat, and Abi Seeley – Prosperity, Like The Seasons, Takes Time, But It’s Worth The Wait

Best in Show: Serenity Gibson – Little Baby Garden
Honourable Mention: Astrid Richards – My Dog Leo and Casey Harms – An Open Mind
“I want to congratulate and thank all of the artists who shared their work and provided a glimpse of what prosperity means to them. I also want to thank the Mission Art Council for everything they do to showcase local artists of all ages and make the arts accessible to everyone in the community,” said Shawn Good, president and CEO of Prospera Credit Union.
