Aladdin, the classic tale of a street urchin and a magic, genie-producing lamp, is flying onto the Langley stage, Feb. 27 to March 8.
Imagine That! Production’s upcoming show tells the story of Aladdin (Ian Frayne), his monkey sidekick Alakazam (Ella de Bulnes) and the beautiful Princess Jasmine (Jessa Martens).
Audiences are invited to meet the devious magician, Jammal, and his sister, Halima, who try to trick Aladdin in a malicious scheme to acquire a magical lamp containing a wish-granting genie.
This is a fast-moving play with a large cast of colourful characters, including Aladdin’s poor mother and sister; the bickering, yet lovable, Sultan and Queen Sultana; Scheherazade, teller of stories; Zara and Sheba, tentative servants to the Princess; Chop-Chop, the merciless executioner; the whining “Bubba”; a Dragon who ‘kinda’ breaths fire and not one, not two, but three magical genies.
Aladdin is produced and directed by Faith Toronchuk.
