Mission artists will be showcased in January as the annual Peggy Staber Memorial art exhibition and contest has begun.
Hosted by the Mission Arts Council – in the Rock Family Gallery at 33529 First Ave. – the 2020 show theme is “In the Kitchen.”
The public is invited to come out and view the exhibition, which offers people a peek at some of the amazing artistic talent from the community.
The show opened on Jan. 7 and runs until Jan. 18.
An official opening ceremony is set for Saturday, Jan. 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the gallery.
The gallery is open Tuesdays to Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
About Peggy Staber:
Peggy Staber was a promoter of the visual and performing arts.
For more than 20 years she taught painting and drawing for Fraser Valley College and Mission Parks and Recreation. Staber organized the first juried art show in the valley, which led to the annual provincial Festival of the Arts.
She was also a founding director and past president of the Mission Artists Association.
Beginning in 1973, Staber served on the Mission Arts Council as a director, president, and as its first executive director.
She passed away on Jan. 26, 1999.
