Enjoy a day with your furry family member this weekend at the Dog Dayz of Winter.

“It’s a great way for owners and their pets to come find out what services are available in the Oceanside area, and have a great time doing activities and getting out and learning new things so that they can have fun together,” said organizer Scarlett Luke, who has a dog-related business and a black lab named Lucy.

This is the second annual Dog Dayz of Winter, running Saturday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon-4 p.m. at the Coombs Fairgrounds, and this year’s event will be three times the size of last year’s event, Luke said.

There will be 32 vendors, as well as rescue groups, for people to get information and chat about their pets. There will be “pup art” opportunities, a pet fashion show, a pet and owner look alike contest, sit/stay competitions, agility demonstrations, Doga (dog yoga) a pet photographer and more.

Luke said the Tea for Two on Sunday at 2 p.m. is a fundraiser for the Equine Care Society, where both dog and owner get a treat and a drink.

Luke is the owner of local business Nice Dog, Scarlett, which is putting on the event with Bosley’s Pet Food Plus.

There are some safety precautions in place Luke needs pets owners to be aware of: every dog must have a handler (only one dog per person), dogs must remain on leashes at all times and dogs over eight months old must be spayed or neutered.

Admission is $2 and children are free when accompanied by an adult. The Fairgrounds are located at 1014 Ford Road in Coombs.
