Despite a wet start to June, this summer is going to be hotter than ever as the eighth annual Jam In Jubilee is set to take place.
“After the success of last year’s art market, we really want to continue showcasing the great arts and crafts talent here in the Fraser Valley,” said Jam volunteer Caroline Dance.
The fun starts at 6 p.m. every Thursday from July 12 to Aug. 16 with the Art Market full of handmade products, vintage collectibles, artwork and treats all available from local vendors.
The main event begins at 7 p.m. with three bands each night to entertain the crowd. Treat your ears to a variety of local sounds including blues, jazz, folk and rock that will please young and old.
“The high quality of the musicians who have played at this little event in the last few years has been amazing” said Matt Preston, a returning attendee. “I am expecting more of the same this year.”
For a little added diversity, the new UFV Alumni Stage will host a variety of performers including martial arts demonstrations, unique instruments, cultural dances and more.
“And if all these things are not enough,” said Daniel Bryce, another volunteer and UFV alumni, “there will be awesome kids’ activities, art installations, a mini-film festival, and of course, the beautiful park to enjoy!”
Jubilee Park is located off McCallum Road near Five Corners.
While admission is free, donations are encouraged to support this not-for-profit grassroots music and arts festival. The first 100 donations will get a one-inch collector pin.
There are still a few booths available. Any artists or artisans who want to sell their wares should contact organizers at vendor@jaminjubilee.com.
