Jazz artist performs from new EP at Lorenzo’s Café Thursday

Canadian jazz artist Andrea Superstein is launching herself into summer with brand new music and a handful of Canadian tour dates.

A force to be reckoned with, Canadian jazz artist Andrea Superstein is launching herself into summer with brand new music and a handful of Canadian tour dates, including here in the North Okanagan.

Superstein performs an intimate show at Lorenzo’s Café in Ashton Creek Thursday, July 10.

Making her debut at the Vancouver Jazz Festival in 2010, which garnered her a Galaxie Award nomination for Best Emerging Talent, Superstein soon after released her debut album, One Night, which received rave reviews from the jazz community. She was also recently featured on the Women In Jazz compilation CD.

Earlier this month, Superstein released two  tracks, I Want To Be Evil and Just One Time, which accompany three additional new songs on her new EP Stars.

Boasting her own unique sound, Superstein is known for her ability to blend multiple elements together. Influenced by many different genres, her sophomore album sees her jazz roots intersect with an indie sound, creating a final product that has allowed her to explore uncharted territory and develop a sound that is described as “authentic, quirky, modern, vintage-style.”

Recorded at Canterbury Studio in Toronto and produced by Juno award winning producer Les Cooper, Stars will be available for purchase at Superstein’s upcoming tour dates.

Her show at Lorenzo’s, located at 901 Mabel Lake Rd. east of Enderby, starts at 8 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. and cover is $10. Call 250-838-6700 for reservations.
