The Kelowna Art Gallery presents its 2013 members’ exhibition: Past to Present, on view from November 30, 2013 through January 11, 2014.

Our annual members’ exhibition offers artists an opportunity to have their work viewed by the community at large. This six-week long show will feature unique and inventive works by over sixty local artists in a variety of media, including painting, photography, mixed media, and sculpture. The theme of this year’s members’ exhibition is the inspiration of art from the past. Artists were asked to select an influential work of art from the past, and then use it as a starting point for their submissions. What, or who has influenced their own art? What was the catalyst for them becoming artists? Is there an historical work of art that fascinated, or inspired them? Past to Present will be on view in The Front project space of the Gallery, and is open to the public free of charge.

“It is always exciting to see the wide range of works contributed for the annual members’ exhibition,” says Nataley Nagy, Executive Director at the Gallery. “We are once again thrilled to be able to share these with the community as one of the many ways we give back to our valued members for their on-going support.”

An opening reception to celebrate the artistic accomplishments of these artists will be held on Friday, December 13, from 7 to 10 pm, at the Kelowna Art Gallery. This is a free event, open to members and guests, by invitation.

The Kelowna Art Gallery is located at 1315 Water Street in downtown Kelowna. For more information about current exhibitions, public programming or special events, please visit the Kelowna Art Gallery online atwww.kelownaartgallery.com.
