Kelowna artist, Gail Hodgson’s exhibit, Aqueous Vita at the Innovation Centre will only be on display until Jan. 31.

Her luminous, gilded abstract collection has taken over the first floor of the Innovation Centre to welcome people as they enter through the door.

The professional artist created her unique abstract collection of 22 paintings in a fluid acrylics style to mimic cymatic images, cells from under a microscope and images of brain cells.

“I love it because I like doing just abstract but also to create and have the images just show up,” said Hodgson.

Her favourite piece on show is Red Haired Woman, that is made up of large cells that form the outline of a woman with glowing red hair. The woman is not prominent on first glance, she reveals herself over time to the viewer.

“It’s made of a matrix of holes. It’s forming and dissolving and it’s not solid matter, it’s totally inspired by that science concept,” said Hodgson.

“Cosmology, Cymatics and Quantum Physics are sources of awe and inspiration for my work. My passion for painting is to express the organic, mysterious nature of life, the micro and macro perspectives, of the cosmos and sub-atomic realms,” reads her artist statement.
