Vancouver Island artist Ken Lavigne said he’s bringing the great crooner classics of Christmases gone by to Parksville once again.
Lavigne had his Parksville Christmas show last year, and he said it was a huge success, so he decided to bring it back again for the 2016 season.
Lavigne said that the program incldues a lot of family Christmas tunes that people will enjoy. Some of the songs on the program include Bing Crosby’s White Christmas, It’s a Marshmallow World and other great crooner classics of Christmases gone by, he said. Other songs also include Jingle Bells, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Silent Night.
This year, Lavigne said, he released two albums Closer Than Ever with some original music and a Christmas album, which Lavigne said is very much in keeping with the style of his Christmas Roadshow.
The CDs will be available at his upcoming shows.
Lavigne described it as an old timey radio Christmas show. He said the show is almost like a variety show with singing, dancing and acting as well as some really funny and sincere moments.
In a press release, it says that the Ken Lavigne’s Christmas Musical Roadshow is a throwback to the golden age of live radio, evoking the sounds of radio drama with special sound effects presenting a Christmas story, but they will be putting their own modern spin on it.
Lavigne said there will be some audience engagement, adding that they will be recreating the indoor snowball fight from last year.
“The audience can delight in getting revenge on all the people that snowballed them last year,” Lavigne said.
Lavigne is a founding member of The Canadian Tenors and co-founder of the tenor trio Romanza. He has been touring and recording as a solo artist since 2008. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and worked extensively with famed producer David Foster.
Lavigne is performing at Knox United Church on Dec. 16, which is now sold out, but tickets are still available for the Dec. 20 show at the Port Theatre in Nanaimo. For more information, visit www.kenlavigne.com.
