PENTICTON –– In case you haven’t heard the news, living blues legend B.B. King is paying the Okanagan a visit this spring.

The 15–time Grammy Award winner, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Blues Hall of Fame member performs at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton May 12.

King, at 86 year old, is inarguably the most imitated of the living blues guitarists. His influence on music around the world is incalculable.

Since King started recording in the late 1940s, he has released more than 60 albums, many of them considered blues classics.

He developed one of the world’s most readily-identified guitar styles, and has mixed traditional blues, jazz, swing, mainstream pop, and jump into a unique sound.

His singing is richly melodic, both vocally and in the “singing” that comes from his guitar, “Lucille.”

King’s performance in the Okanagan is part of a six-date Canadian tour.

Tickets to see King at the South Okanagan Events Centre May 12 are $30, $50 and $60, available online at www.valleyfirsttix.com, by phone at 1-877-763-2849, or in person at the South Okanagan Events Centre box office and the Wine Country Visitor Centre.
