Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun, starts show run at Ladysmith Little Theatre

Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun will run from March 5 to March 22

Ladysmith Little Theatre’s 2020 spring production, Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun opens March 5.

Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun is one of Canadian playwright Norm Foster’s most poignant plays in which Robert, a thirty-five year old man with the mental capacity of a child, meets Holly, a pregnant young woman in crisis. Against all odds and amidst great uncertainty, the two bond and an unexpected family is born.

Director Josee Duffhues says she chose the play because it is her favourite Norm Foster play, and it is an emotional rollercoaster that displays true human emotion.

“I call it a dramady, because it’s funny, but it’s sad too,” Duffhues said. “It’s very real, it’s very human. You can recognize the characters, and their problems, but you also recognize how comical people are.”

The Little Theatre production will star Candy Wilson as Holly Fitch, Jesse Wilson as Robert Castle, Ann Dougherty as Claire Castle, Greg Heide as Simon Garvey, and Vic Duffhues as Doctor Andreas.

“They’re amazing,” Duffhues said of the cast. “Jesse is astounding. He connects with Robert, so he understands how Robert’s mind works. Ann’s loved this play from the get-go. This is Candy’s second play with us, and she’s stunning.

Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun will run from March 5 to March 22. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. on March 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, and 21; with 2 p.m. matinees on March 8, 15, and 22.
