Students of music, dance and speech arts have been preparing for the Kiwanis Music Festival which begins March 3.

Students of music, dance and speech arts have been busy for months preparing for the Kiwanis Music Festival, which begins March 3.

The festival provides an opportunity for young performing artists to demonstrate their achievements for adjudicators, teachers, parents, fellow students and the general public.

The performances are evaluated by professional adjudicators and students attend workshops that enhance the learning and teaching processes.

Junior and senior piano competitions start the festival off on March 3 and are followed by classical voice and choral on March 8.

Musical theatre, speech arts, dance and strings/instrumental will continue in April. The Festival concludes with two highlights concerts on April 29 to 30.

The March discipline dates and locations are:

Junior piano — March 3 to 4 at Penticton Alliance Church.

Senior piano — March 5 to 7 at St. Saviour’s Church.

Choral — March 8 at  Penticton United Church.

Classical Voice March 8 to 10 at Penticton United Church.

Competitive sessions are open to the public and entry is by donation. The March Program is online now at www.pkmf.org.
