Lake Country gallery hosts Deck the Walls and Under 100 exhibition

The Lake Country Art Gallery is gearing up for the holiday season and its biggest show of the year and its annual art exchange and auction.

The Lake Country Art Gallery is gearing up for the holiday season and its biggest show of the year.

The fourth annual Under 100 exhibition is comprised of small, one-of-a-kind, original artworks by more than 50 Okanagan artists available for sale for under $100.

“We’ve had a great response from artists for this year’s Under 100 exhibition,” said Katie Brennan, curator of the Lake Country Art Gallery. “There are a good number of artists who have exhibited with us before, as well as a good number of new artists this year, which is always exciting.”

In addition to the small $100 works, the Lake Country Art Gallery will also have a selection of works under $200 and $300 available. The exhibition will also cover the walls of the Lake Country Coffee House and showcase pieces in the Lake Country Art Gallery’s gift shop, which is located in LCAG’s Art House next door.

All proceeds from the sale go to the artists and to support the Lake Country Art Gallery.

The fourth annual Under 100 exhibition opens at the Lake Country Art Gallery Saturday, Nov. 23  and continues until Dec. 21 Admission is free and open to the public.

The gallery is also hosting the third annual Deck the Walls Art Exchange and Auction, Nov. 30, starting at 6 p.m. at the Aspen Grove Golf Club in Lake Country.

Unlike most auctions, Deck the Walls offers a unique twist. Instead of attendees arriving armed with their own cash, buyers will have the opportunity to submit works from their own collection to increase their purchasing power.

“Deck the Walls is a rare opportunity to exchange art from your own collection that may need to be refreshed, and in return for a new piece of art,” said Brennan

Artworks can be submitted to the gallery Nov. 22 and 24 from noon to 3 p.m.

The gallery is also hosting two more art history talks with Hanss Lujan: A guide to Canadian Art Nov. 24 at 1 p.m.  and  Artpop: Art History in Modern Contemporary Pop Culture Dec. 8 at 1 p.m.

In addition, the gallery is hosting two workshops with acclaimed  artist Kristy Gordon, on figure painting and  portrait painting from a photo, this month.
