Langham Court Theatre plays on gender roles

The blurred lines between genders are the theme of a new play at Langham Court theatre.

In Elizabeth Rex, Queen Elizabeth I summons a troupe of actors to perform Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. As the Queen takes a man’s role to govern the country, the male actors portray women.

Langham will perform Canadian writer Timothy Findley’s version of the play. Tickets are two for $18 on preview night Wednesday (June 8) or $18 for adults, $16 for students and seniors thereafter until June 25.

It plays at 8 p.m. nightly with matinees at 2 p.m. June 18 and 25, 805 Langham Crt., near Rockland Avenue and Moss Street.
