Langley teen’s favourite part of the holidays is decorating the house

13-year-old Rocco Langford's favourite part of Christmas is setting up his yard with inflatables.

Setting up the yard with holiday inflatables and bright lights is one Langley teen’s favourite part of Christmas.

Thirteen-year-old Rocco Langford prefers spending hours in his family’s front yard putting up decorations to make his display called, “Rocco and Cory’s Wacky Wonderland” – the brightest site in his Langley City neighbourhood.

“We literally just finished last weekend,” said Rocco.

“I like this [decorating], because I’m running out of things to ask for for Christmas.”

When he was younger, Rocco helped his dad Cory Langford with the displays, and now as he gets older, he takes on most of the responsibility himself.

“Most of the bigger stuff came when he [Rocco] was a toddler,” said Cory, who has been decorating the house on a smaller scale for years.

“It’s good for the family. They always pitch in. It’s good to see them figuring out what they want.”

Since the beginner of December, Rocco, who attends the Langley Fine Arts school, has been hard at work spending “quite a bit” of time arranging the inflatable Santas, reindeer, “Minions,” dragons, candy canes, and lights.

His favourite part of the display is the Santa that sits atop the roof.

And Rocco has so many ideas for Christmas decor, he’s running out of front yard space.

But fortunately the “whole neighbourhood’s starting to pick up,” according to Cory, who said a few other houses on the block are also decked out.

The display runs every day, all day, until Dec. 31 at 19970 46 Ave.
