Both beginner and advanced artists interested in learning the fascinating art of poured watercolours should mark their calendars for an upcoming class with Catherine Martha Holmes at the Campbell River Art Gallery.
The class will run on Wednesdays from March 23 to April 20 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Campbell River Art Gallery.
Participants will learn the art of layering transparent watercolours, similar to silkscreen printing. The class costs $140 or $120 for Campbell River Art Gallery members. All supplies will provided at a cost of $30.
Holmes has been working as an artist for decades. She received her Bachelor of Arts, with a concentration in Fine Arts, and her Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University.
During her career she has illustrated for the Ministry of Natural Resources, worked as a visiting artist in Toronto schools and illustrated for six magazines in Yellowknife.
Locally, Holmes exhibited 49 paintings in her 49th year and has taught watercolour painting and children’s book illustration.
