It’s all about the blues.
Starting Monday, Oct. 21, running through to the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 23, the Okanagan Blues Camp will take place at Penticton’s home of the blues, The Dream Café.
For two days students will get instructions from award-winning Canadian blues artists, returning to the Café for lunch on Oct. 23 and then hitting the Dream stage to showcase their new-found talents.

Students will have a choice of taking their master lessons from one artist. Classes will be limited to about eight or nine students, so it will be first-come-first served selection.
There will also be a second-choice option if the first is fully booked.
“We have built in class practice time for students to work on what they have learned with their instructor, on Tuesday afternoon (4 to 5:30 p.m.) and students can also stay in their classrooms from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on both Monday and Tuesday to practice together, and get stoked about their Dream Cafe performances,” said organizer Mark McKenney.
“You don’t have to be an expert to benefit from this camp. General musical knowledge and practical musicianship on your instrument is all you need.
“These lessons and the tricks you’ll learn apply to blues players, but also to country and jazz musicians.
“You’ll leave having learned tricks, skills and knowledge from the best in the business, just like they learned from their mentors who came before them.”
