Andrew Ferns, producer of the mini-series Captain Cook – Obsession & Discovery – will be the special guest speaker at The Reach Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
Ferns will relate his year-long experiences of sailing on the Endeavour with the crew of this Australian/Canadian series that is part biography, part travelogue.
Cook, the son of an English farm labourer, was a hero to some, a curse to others. But the famous naval officer mapped more of the globe than any other man in three voyages. The four-part mini-series won the Gemini Award for best history program and the Leo Award for best documentary series.
“Ferns learned first-hand what it was like to embark on adventure on the high seas as he shares with us his journey covering the travels of one of the greatest explorers of all time – Captain James Cook,” said Suzanne Greening, executive director of The Reach.
Those interested in attending this free event must RSVP to 604-864-8087 or sgreening@thereach.ca. Doors open at 7 p.m. and there will be a showing of the first part of the series.
