Let your flags fly July 1

Surrey's free Canada Day party takes place all day in Clovedale.

Get out your flags and your red and white garb.

It’s time to celebrate Canada – and Surrey is just the place to do it.

The city’s Canada Day celebrations Monday (July 1) take place in Cloverdale at the Millennium Amphitheatre site near 176 Street and 64 Avenue.

The all-day, free event, which starts at 10 a.m., features fun for the whole family, with stage shows and roving performers, more than 50 exhibitors, crafts, food, a strawberry tea and a midway.

There’s a steady stream of entertainment on the main stage, featuring Peak Performance Project winner Dear Rouge, country singer Crystal Shawanda, Aerosmith Rocks, Good For Grapes, Cole Armour, Madison Bell & Bryden Veinot and the Surrey Celebration Dance Team.

Headlining in the evening are punk icons Sloan and Canadian rockers Platinum Blonde.

The night will end with a bang with a fireworks display that will begin at 10:15 p.m.
