Have you ever just wanted to sing simply for the joy of it?
Those looking for an inspirational day of singing can experience the passion, joy, and the power of gospel and world music with acclaimed composer/arranger and pianist Brian Tate when he comes to Vernon to lead a workshop March 2.
Tate will lead participants through easy-to-sing music and rhythms from gospel, African and Afro-Cuban traditions.
“It’s a great workshop for soloists, choir members, directors and those of you new to singing,” said organizer and local music therapist Julie Armitage.
Director of Vancouver’s 100-voice City Soul Choir, Tate leads workshops worldwide and is a passionate advocate of learning and making music at all levels. He believes that music has a fundamental role in learning, communication, understanding, community, health, and wholeness.
The workshop will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 3908 27th St. Pre-registration and payment ($55) is required before Feb. 25. To reserve a spot, contact Armitage at 250-307-4216 or email vernonmusictherapy@telus.net.
