It’s a brand new name and brand to embrace all live performances to come in Filberg Park, while also still providing the same great music and an open-air venue like no other down in the Comox Valley.
Formerly known as the Filberg Summer Concerts, organizers are now into their 7th year of hosting evening concerts through the summer and aim to please with our latest all-Canadian line up including some new faces along with crowd pleasers you may remember from the past.
This year the Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park Association and Filberg Festival are also celebrating 35 years of live music in the Park. They are looking forward to keeping the momentum going with our three 2017 LIVE! In Filberg Park fundraising concerts with three big-name acts performing this July and August.
First up is Island bluesman Jesse Roper, who is becoming a fan favourite in this neck of the woods, having recently opened for both Current Swell and Chilliwack at the Tidemark Theatre as well as headlining last year’s Campbell River Mirror Jazz &Blues Fest. Roper takes the stage at Filberg Park July 27.
Next up is Vancouver-based Delhi 2 Dublin, a group gaining international fame for their eclectic fusion of electronic, hip hop, Celtic and Bhangra musical styles. They perform Aug. 4 as part of the Filberg Festival.
Closing out this year’s Live! In Filberg Park series is well-known and internationally-beloved Celtic fiddler Ashley MacIsaac. The pride of Cape Breton Island, MacIsaac has been performing his high-energy Celtic-folk all around the world for decades and winning numerous prestigious awards while doing so, including three Junos. MacIsaac’s performance is set for Aug. 24.
Musical genres of these performances will take you across the country, across the ocean, to the far east and back again to the West Coast of British Columbia.
The journey will be wide, incorporating traditional instruments with electronic sounds, while also providing a twist of folk, roots, blues, funk and soul. Organizers promise there will be something for everyone and dancing is definitely on the menu. Tickets are currently available online via Filberg.com or their Facebook page.
