On April 7, Jordan Klassen and special guests, Portraits of Us, will be performing at The Arthouse on Mill at 7:30 p.m.
Klassen is a decorated songwriter in his own right who has spent more than a decade quietly crafting music that has been deemed ‘unsentimentally sincere’ and ‘whimsically hopeful’. His most recent work ‘Curses’, is a collection of brooding pop songs that continue in it’s predecessor’s (2016’s ‘Javelin’) exploration of mental illness and hushed vulnerability.
Portraits of Us is a Chilliwack duo consisting of experienced solo performers, Jason and Anna Ratzlaff. They have a sound that is clean, melodic, acoustic, and balanced with intricate guitar and vocal arrangements.
The music of Portraits of Us could be compared to the likes of The Civil Wars, The Staves, and Noah Gunderson. Jason and Anna are currently in the middle of recording and producing an eight-song album, which is due to be released early summer
Tickets: $15 (performance only) or $20 (performance and pre-show beverage from Chaos and Solace). Tickets can be purchased at The Arthouse (2-9360 Mill St.), Chaos & Solace, online at thearthouseonmill.com, or at the door.
