Live opera returns to the Salmar theatre

Live at the Met is back at the Salmar Classic in September with a new step.

As well as amazing live opera performances direct from the Metropolitan Opera in New York, two beautiful ballets from the Bolshoi will be screened this fall.

The Salmar Association’s popular program of live shows returns Saturday, Sept. 10 at 11:30 a.m. with a Live From London performance of Last Night of the Proms.

This spectacular event live from London’s famous Royal Albert Hall features Lang Lang, one of the world’s great pianists.

The next day, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m., lovers of dance can see the Bolshoi Ballet’s Swan Lake – direct from Moscow’s beautiful Bolshoi Theatre.

Live from the Met rep Doug Hughes says the Bolshoi Theatre has been completely renovated and will be a sight to behold.

The Bolshoi will be back at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 with their production of Esmeralda.

The Live From the Met opera season opens at the Salmar Classic Theatre Saturday, Oct. 15 at 9:55 a.m. with Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, starring Anna Netrebko and Elina Garanca.

Live from New York’s Metropolitan Opera House its Mozart’s Don Giovanni at 9:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, starring Marina Rebeka, Mariusc Kwiechen, Barbara Frittoli and Ramon Vargas.

All performances are broadcast in high definition and tickets for most performances are $22 for adults and $14 for students.

Delighted with the Live at the Met program, an enthusiastic Hughes says people who knew nothing about opera prior to the program, have tried one or two out and discovered a real passion for the music and the theatre.
