Abbotsford actors Sharra Ganzeveld and Jenessa Galbraith are starring in The Illusion, a fantasy-adventure about family and forgiveness, which opens Oct. 21 at Trinity Western University.
Both are students in the BFA acting program at TWU. In a new tradition called Talkback Tuesday, high school students and other interested audience members are invited to stay after the show for a casual Q and A with the cast and director.
Ganzeveld and Galbraith are inviting Abbotsford teens to experience the show and chat with the creative team. “Theatre is such a powerful way to learn more about life,” said Ganzeveld, an Abbotsford Christian graduate now in the final year of her BFA degree. “This show raises the question of how love and truth can coexist in a world of darkness and broken relationships. It makes you laugh and it makes you think–like all the best fairy tales.”
Ganzeveld plays a magician who shows a remorseful father a vision of the prodigal son he banished 15 years earlier. The magician’s sidekick, who the girls say is “part-Igor, part-Gollum,” is played by MEI grad Galbraith.
Sponsored by Great-West Life, The Illusion plays Oct. 21 to Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, with 2 p.m. Saturday matinees. Talkback Tuesday is Oct. 28. Tickets and info at www.twu.ca/theatre or email theatre@twu.ca.
