Two images by Abbotsford photographer Jason Brown were among 18 that were selected for entry in the recent first World Photographic Cup.
The images chosen to represent Canada were selected by a panel of members from the Professional Photographers of Canada.
Brown’s first selected image was “Shoe-icide,” which is an image of a glossy, red shoe hanging from a hook and dripping blood. His other selected image was “Radial Ascension,” a photograph of a glass staircase circling a glass elevator which won top architectural image in B.C.
Both are part of the Canadian Loan Collection, which consists of 40 photographs selected to represent imaging in Canada for 2013.
Canada won one gold and one silver medal. The first World Photographic Cup went to the U.S. team with one gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
Brown is a second-generation artist and has been pursing photography since he bought his first SLR camera in 1997.
He has used his photography skills to support many non-profit organizations locally and internationally such as Matthew’s House, Run for Water, Crystal Gala, Fraser Valley Child Development Centre and We Day.
Brown regularly does portrait photography for families throughout the Lower Mainland and commercial photography for a wide variety of North American companies.
