Organizers are looking for artists to add some visual creations to a section of Main Street in downtown Chilliwack.
The new project, called Art on Main, is a way for local artists to be able to display their work in some of the eight windows of the Royal Hotel facing Main Street.
Submission are currently being accepted for the display which starts on Feb. 1.
“This exhibition will celebrate the talented and dynamic artwork of local creators and will provide an opportunity to showcase their work at no charge,” reads the press release.
Artwork is not limited to just paintings. Any creative endeavour suitable for display in the 45-inch square windows will be considered. Artwork does not need to be framed, however it must be able to sit on the window ledge.
Depending on the number of submissions received, artwork will be on display for a minimum of two weeks. All artwork remains the property of the artist and will be returned after the exhibition.
“Art is always a unique expression of each person and we’d like to give Chilliwack residents an opportunity to display their creations at no charge. Art on Main fits the unique and character filled culture that is downtown,” said Laura Reid of the Royal Hotel.
