A Trinity Western University professor will delve into the Heart of the Artist on Oct. 14, as Gallery 7’s Theatre Side Chat Series returns to the House of James in Abbotsford.
Dr. Lloyd Arnett, a theatre instructor, director, dramaturg and producer, at the Langley university will explore what makes an artist, an artist.
What kinds of people does God call to be artists in the world? How are they endowed to fulfill their purpose?
What should they know about their gifting and emotional make-up in the world they inhabit?
“The goal of our series is to go behind the curtain and explore why theatre and the arts are so important to our community and to our culture,” said Ken Hildebrandt, Gallery 7 Theatre’s executive artistic director.
“This season, we’re looking at what makes an artist tick.
“Why do they do what they do and why is their work so important to the intellectual and spiritual well-being of our community?
“A great city and a great community is not just made up of roads, bridges, recreational facilities and commerce,” said Hildebrandt.
“These things are important obviously, but they only meet physical needs.
“A thriving city also has a thriving arts and cultural scene, which provides food for the heart, soul and mind.”
Joining Arnett will be musician, Aron Loewen, who is known for his light gospel blues style and some wonderful acoustic instrumentals.
The Heart of the Artists with Lloyd Arnett and musical guest Aron Loewen, will run Friday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the House of James, 2743 Emerson St. in Abbotsford.
Admission is $5 at the door.
