Get ready for a bit of everything musically at this week’s Envision Financial Twilight concerts at Mission’s Fraser River Heritage Park.
The Lounge Hounds come to the Envision Financial Twilight Concert Series July 4 from 7 to 8 p.m. Heavily influenced by the likes of Elvis, the Beatles, Carl Perkins and Brian Setzer, the Lounge Hounds bring a fresh sensibility to rockabilly. This Chilliwack-based trio delivers a solid punch of lively hooks, high-octane rhythms and finely executed melodies to a new generation of roots rock fans. Bring your dancing shoes and get ready for the Lounge Hounds to deliver a lean and mean hot-rodded mix of sock-hoppin’ rockabilly to the park.
This concert also marks the first of five Full Cupboard Fridays this summer. Event goers will have the opportunity to take part in the program, which supports St. Joseph’s Food Bank, by bringing non-perishable food or cash donations to the concert. To learn more visit thefullcupboard.ca.
Horizon makes a return to the Twilight stage July 9. Regulars at the concerts may remember Horizon for their brilliant, dancing-in-the-rain set beneath rainbows in the 2012 series. Horizon perform in a plethora of musical styles, including swing, blues, rockin’ soul, and R&B, with some Latin, country and classic old time rock ‘n roll to top it all off. From toe tapping to outright “get on the floor and boogie,” this is a band you won’t want to miss.
The concert series runs every Wednesday and Friday at Fraser River Heritage Park from now until Aug. 29.
Concert goers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner or treat themselves to a special pre-concert meal at the Blackberry Kitchen or The Log Cabin Café. Admission to the concerts is free, though donations are appreciated.
