With Winter Carnival here at last and all sorts of great shows happening in our midst, I’m thinking we’ve made it through the figuratively coldest part of the season.
Despite relatively short days and weather still reminiscent of January’s chills, February is considered by many to be the most heartwarming month of the year.
Red, pink and white decorations serve as a reminder to celebrate the tugging of heartstrings. It’s up to each of us to find our best way celebrate and this February offers a wonderful variety of concerts and events:
Country superstar band Emerson Drive is at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre on Thursday as part of their Decade and Driving Tour.
Joined by special guest Ridley Bent for the Western Canadian leg of the tour, Emerson Drive is celebrating their first 10 years as a band.
The music starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are still available through the Ticket Seller by calling 549-SHOW (7469).
It’s the Elvis tribute concert to end all tribute concerts.
Elvis, Elvis, Elvis includes not one, but three top professional Las Vegas Elvis impersonators. Each act represents a different time-line of Elvis’ career: from emerging in the ‘50s to the jumpsuits of the late ‘60s, it’s about as close to the real thing as it gets.
Elvis, Elvis, Elvis takes the stage Friday starting at 8 p.m. Call the Ticket Seller at 549-SHOW (7469) for tickets.
Quartetto Gelato is renowned for their versatile musicality.
Their repertoire includes everything from classical masterworks and operatic arias, to gypsy and folk songs, and sizzling tangos. Their relaxed humour and stage presence sets the tone for a concert experience that won’t be soon forgotten.
You’ll have two opportunities to see this concert at the Performing Arts Centre: Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 15 at 1:30 p.m. North Okanagan Community Concert Association memberships and individual concert tickets can be purchased through the Ticket Seller Box Office at 549-SHOW (7469).
Explore the complexities, complications, wonderings and wanderings of love with Love and Dreaming Feb. 19 at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre.
This romantic evening of theatre will take you on a carefully sculpted collage of Shakespeare’s famous love scenes interwoven with modern poetry and beautiful madrigals.
