One of Victoria’s most popular bands, Lust Life Jazz Band, performs its eclectic repertoire at the Crofton Hotel Pub on Sunday, Sept. 18.
With the Cowichan Valley’s own celebrated saxophonist, Wayne Kozak, as its newest member, the quintet plays everything from jazz standards to pop and party music, from funk to blues, from Latin to swing.
The band’s repertoire, Kozak says, “stems from the love of the jazz song form, the great American songbook, and takes inspiration from jump jazz, blues, bebop, funk and swing.”
“Its unique sound paints a mellifluous picture of West Coast style and each musician brings a wealth of performance history and musical influences.”
The performance is part of the Jazz at Crofton series, which runs from 2 to 5 p.m. each Sunday. Musicians are invited to join in a jam session during the last hour.
The pub is at 1534 Joan Ave. Admission is $15.
