Malibu Knights battles to first in Penticton

Malibu Knights won the first round in Rock The Peach Battle of the Bands competiton in Penticton.



Four bands took the stage at the Barking Parrot in Penticton Thursday night, but just one was crowned the round one winner of the Rock the Peach Battle of the Bands.

Malibu Knights had the crowd going and impressed the judges to be named the first band in the final four battle that will take place on April 6. The rock trio has opened for acts like Bon Jovi, Kid Rock, Bif Naked and others. Their stage presence and crisp sound showed it.

Penticton rockers Fluxx had a strong showing in the crowd as did the other local band Subject A. Opening up the first round of the battle of the bands was The Cut Losses, a two-piece band of guitar and drums from Surrey/Langley who also put on a good set.

Winners of the final four duel will earn the honour of taking the stage on the opening night of the three-day music festival Rock The Peach that takes place this July in Penticton.

Round two of the battle of the bands takes place at the Barking Parrot on March 22 starting at 8 p.m. Slated to play are Scissorkick, The Flu and Calum Hughes Collective.
