Local non-profit group Beach Flicks will show their fourth film in Qualicum Beach this Friday, Mao’s Last Dancer.
The film is based on a true story surrounding the life of Li Cunxin, a young impoverished Chinese boy recruited to be a ballet dancer at the age of 11. The movie is said to have some of the best dance scenes ever captured in fiction film.
“This film will capture the hearts of those who love the art of dance, culture, politics and a true story of being in the right place at the right time,” said publicity co-ordinator Luba Plotnikoff.
The show starts at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb.11 at Eaglecrest Golf Course. Tickets are $6 at the door. Previous screenings have been sold out so residents are encouraged to come early, doors will open around 5:30.
